The landscape orientation of the on-screen keyboard is supported in some applications of your phone, but not all.
In some applications, you can enter text in landscape orientation.
After selecting a keyboard layout, you can single handedly enter your text by tapping keys on the on-screen keyboard with your thumb. Here are some basic tips on what to do when entering text:

If you connect to an Exchange Server for your work e-mail, calendar and contacts, you can set up your Exchange ActiveSync account on your phone. Although your phone supports multiple e-mail accounts, you can only have one Exchange ActiveSync account on your phone at a time.
You need to set up and use an Exchange ActiveSync account that syncs with a server running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
Tap the arrow in the upper-right corner to open the "Switch account" menu.
Tap "New account" to add a new e-mail account.
For your phone to automatically set up your Exchange ActiveSync account based on your e-mail address and password, your corporate Exchange Server must support auto detection. If your corporate Exchange Server does not support auto detection, you will be prompted to enter the Exchange Server settings after you tap Next. Ask your Exchange Server administrator for details.
Allow your phone to auto sync with your corporate Exchange Server, or manually sync your phone at your convenience.
NOTE: Searching a company global address book via ActiveSync on the Hero is not supported. You can copy/e-mail the company directory in a Word/PDF format and use it as a directory.
By default, your phone automatically syncs your work e-mail, calendar and contacts with your corporate Exchange Server on a fixed schedule. You can change the sync schedule, or disable auto synchronization if you prefer to manually sync your phone.
You can control how work e-mail and calendar events are synchronized and downloaded to your phone.
You can return your phone to its original factory state by performing a factory reset. Resetting your phone erases all data such as phone contacts, call history and downloaded applications, but will not erase data stored on your phone's microSD™ card such as photos and music.
Make sure to back up the important data on your phone before performing a factory reset. You can quickly back up your contact and calendar information by syncing your Google and Exchange ActiveSync accounts and by connecting your phone to your computer and running HTC Sync.
Perform a factory reset by following the steps below:
Your phone will erase all personal data and restart. It may take a few minutes for the process to complete.
You can also perform a factory reset by using the phone buttons. While the phone is turned off, press and hold the HOME, END CALL/POWER, and BACK buttons. The reset process will start after a few seconds. When the phone finishes the reset process, press MENU.
The Hero's Android operating system manages applications with an advanced architecture technique to ensure better battery life and performance.
The Hero's Android application management will automatically close and store processes you're not currently using. By storing applications when they are not in use, the Hero's application management allows for not only a seamless user experience, but also improved battery performance.
In order to improve battery life, there may be times when you want to close applications you're not currently using but that are accessing the data network in the background. There are several task managers on the Android Market that facilitate this. One that does a great job is called Advanced Task Killer Free.
Note: Be careful when using any third-party task managing application. You must make sure that you do not close any system processes or applications used by the Hero's operating system. Failure to do so could cause the Hero to crash (a forced close) or result in applications that won't work correctly until the Hero is reset.
Read below for instructions on how to safely exclude certain applications from closing. You can install the Advanced Task Killer Free from the Android Market by searching the following.

Once installed, you can access the Advanced Task Manager Application from the Notification Toolbar at the top of the screen. Pull down and select to open.
Once the application is opened, you can press and hold down the applications to add to the Ignore list. If you select to Kill all applications, make sure to exclude any system applications (e.g., HTC Sense, Albums if using the Android picture widget) by adding to the ignore list. To add an application to the Ignore list, press and hold down on the desired application as shown below. You can also choose by unchecking the application you don't want to close, and then select Kill selected apps.
