2006 marked the 10th anniversary of The Cellular South Outstanding Player Awards presentation. Cellular South has served as title sponsor for eight of those years, since 1998.
The nine prior Conerly Trophy presentations have been held in four cities: Jackson, Clarksdale, Tunica and Biloxi.
The Conerly Trophy in college football, the Howell Trophy in men's college basketball and the Ferriss Trophy in college baseball constitute the three elements of the Cellular South Outstanding Player Awards Series.
