JACKSON, Miss., September 3, 2004 – Cellular South, one of the nation's largest privately held wireless companies, will open a new store in South Hattiesburg on Tuesday, September 7 at 5910 Highway 49, Suite 50 next to Cloverleaf Mall. This will be the third Cellular South location in Hattiesburg, adding to the locations on Hardy Street and inside Turtle Creek Mall. The Area Development Partnership and Cellular South will hold a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting on Friday, September 24, at 10 a.m.

"Cellular South offers a different kind of wireless service based on our belief that customers deserve the best network available, and service and pricing that is fair and makes sense," said Richard Reynolds, Cellular South area manager.

Cellular South has invested more than $260 million in its wireless network in the last five years. The company recently completed a $38 million network expansion that included the addition of more than 100 new cell sites in its wireless markets and the extension of its CDMA 1X third generation digital wireless network to Coastal Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. This increased the company's CDMA 1X by twenty percent and provides seamless coverage from Memphis, Tennessee, Mississippi, Coastal Alabama and the Florida Panhandle to Destin. With its network now 100 percent CDMA 1X, capacity for voice and data traffic is in place to support the company's groundbreaking flat-rate $49.99 per month Unlimited Calling Plan, Unlimited Nationwide Text Messaging service and enhanced wireless data services.

"Mississippi customers can increase their local calling area to include popular vacation destinations such as Destin, Florida and Gulf Shores, Alabama," added Reynolds.

South Hattiesburg and Hardy Street store hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All retail locations are closed on Sundays.

Cellular South supports the Lifeline Assistance program in Mississippi designed to make phone services available to qualifying applicants receiving income-based benefits. Cellular South provides this program so that wireless service is affordable for all Mississippians.
