Public can make free local and long distance calls at Orange Beach Community Center and Cellular South stores in Pensacola and Mary Esther
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - September 22, 2004 – Area residents without phone service are invited to make free local and long distance calls at a Cellular South kiosk at the Orange Beach Community Center at 27235 Canal Road and at Cellular South stores in Pensacola at 604 N. Davis Highway and in Mary Esther at 193 Mary Esther Boulevard.
In Orange Beach, the kiosk's phones are accessible 24 hours a day. The Cellular South locations in Pensacola and Mary Esther provide free calls during normal store hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Cellular South's Emergency Task Force is working around the clock to complete repairs to the company's wireless network. In Baldwin County in Alabama and Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton Counties in Florida, the company's network is operating at or near 90% of its full capacity. Cellular South's network in Mobile County is fully operational. Cellular South has deployed several portable cell sites known as COWS (Cellular on Wheels) into areas affected by Hurricane Ivan to further facilitate customers' and emergency officials' communication needs.
The company reminds customers to call #IVAN from their Cellular South phones to receive updated information on post-storm wireless service and network capabilities, store hours and openings for retail locations in affected areas, and other disaster relief information as available.
