JACKSON, Miss. - (Mar. 14, 2005) – Wooden Award finalist Lawrence Roberts and his NCAA playoff bound Mississippi State University teammate Shane Power joined Ole Miss forward Tommie Eddie as the finalists for the Cellular South Howell Trophy which will be awarded to Mississippi's top male college basketball player of the year on April 14, 2005. All three are seniors.
The trio finished at the top of voting by media members from across the state. Eleven players from six colleges and universities received votes (see list below).
Roberts currently ranks fifth in the SEC in scoring (16.7 ppg) while leading the conference in rebounding (10.9 rpg). Power started more games than any other player for the 22-win Dawgs and led the team in three point shooting accuracy. Eddie, from Brooklyn, NY, led Ole Miss in scoring (11.3 ppg) and tied for the team lead in rebounding (4.4 rpg).

The trophy is named after former Mississippi State All-American and six-time NBA All-Star Bailey Howell.
