JACKSON, Miss. - (June 2, 2005) – The Cellular South kiosk in Bay Springs recently relocated to the Alexander Building Supply Warehouse at 2844 Highway 15 South in Bay Springs. Kiosk hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cellular South is investing $56 million in 2005 to add 154 cell sites to its network across Mississippi and the Memphis Metro Area, Coastal Alabama and the Florida Panhandle to Walton County. The expansion will result in approximately 110 new cell sites in Mississippi alone and will increase the company's overall network size by approximately 16 percent. The expected capital outlay will push Cellular South's total network investment to more than $400 million since 1999.
"Our goal is to provide the best wireless service possible including hassle-free rate plans, nationwide digital coverage, and a world-class voice and data network so customers can communicate without worry, whenever the urge strikes,” said Richard Reynolds, area manager.
Cellular South's network is 100 percent CDMA technology, one of the primary "third generation” digital wireless technologies used globally to meet consumers' growing demand for wireless service. The additional cell sites added in 2005 will further improve in-building coverage, network clarity and capacity to accommodate growing call volume and increased cell phone usage, as well as expand the reach of wireless technology, often into rural areas not covered by national wireless carriers.
"Cellular South is in business to give our customers what all wireless users are seeking – the ability to use their phones when and where they want, with wireline-like quality, and monthly bill predictability,” said Reynolds. "More cell sites and flat rates make this a reality.”
Cellular South supports the Lifeline Assistance program in Mississippi designed to make phone services available to qualifying applicants receiving income-based benefits. Cellular South provides this program so that wireless service is affordable for all Mississippians.
