Text messaging contest will determine Cellular South Viewer's Choice Scholarship Recipient

Miss Mississippi 2007

Vicksburg, Miss. (June 18, 2007) – Cellular South, the nation's largest privately held wireless provider, is giving viewers the opportunity to crown the Miss Mississippi Pageant Cellular South Viewer's Choice recipient. As part of the 50th annual Miss Mississippi Pageant, Cellular South – a three-year pageant sponsor – will award a $5,000 scholarship to the fan's favorite contestant during the pageant's live broadcast on Saturday, July 14.

Cellular South customers can use their wireless phones to vote from July 8 at 8 a.m. through July 14 at 9 p.m. All pageant attendees, including non-Cellular South customers and wireless users who do not subscribe to text messaging, can use Cellular South phones from July 10-12 and July 14, to cast their votes in the lobby of the Vicksburg Convention Center until voting closes at 9 p.m.

"Cellular South is happy to be sponsoring the Miss Mississippi Pageant for the third year in a row," said Jim Richmond, director of corporate communications for Cellular South. "Working with pageant fans to give these contestants the opportunity to continue their education is another way our company can help give back to its customers and its community."

"The Miss Mississippi Corporation is glad to be partnering with Cellular South for our 2007 pageant," said David Blackledge, Miss Mississippi Pageant director. "We encourage fans and attendees to participate in giving pageant contestants the opportunity to receive a scholarship that each and every one of them deserves."

In addition to a $5,000 scholarship, the Viewer's Choice winner will receive a free wireless phone and one year of free wireless service from Cellular South along with the winner of the Miss Mississippi title.

The Cellular South Viewer's Choice Scholarship is another example of the company's continued dedication to the communities it serves and continued focus on education across Mississippi. Cellular South provides scholarships to eligible students at all public universities in Mississippi. And, the Cellular South Gameplan (www.cellularsouthgameplan.com) is another program focused on improving education in Mississippi as well. Cellular South also provides free service to the Amber Alert program.

The Miss Mississippi unlimited text messaging contest is managed by Cellular South as a separate program that has no bearing on official judging of the Miss Mississippi pageant and no relationship to the winner or finalists in the Miss Mississippi pageant competition.
