Cellular South has taken wireless accessibility to a new level by investing more than $140 million in its voice and data network infrastructure - significantly expanding and improving its wireless service and network coverage across its service area.
As a result of the company’s major network-wide investment, Cellular South significantly strengthened, enhanced and grew its already premier voice and data networks in both metropolitan and rural areas – bringing its customers unmatched coverage and capacity. The company’s significant network enhancements played a major role in out-scoring three other wireless providers to win the State of Mississippi cellular contract.
"Cellular South is very focused on providing our customers with the most advanced technologies to ensure that they have the best coverage possible", said Jim Richmond, Director of Corporate Communications for Cellular South. "This investment allows for improved call quality and expanded coverage as well as increasing capacity for data usage in the northeast Mississippi area."
Mark Prince, Business Development Manager for Cellular South, added "These new cell sties in northeast Mississippi will allow Cellular South to be prepared for the business and residential growth that is expected in this area."
Cellular South continues to increase wireless data capacity and boost call coverage throughout the area, adding capacity for voice and data usage as part of a response to growing numbers of customers living an all-wireless lifestyle. In fact, approximately 25% of CS customers are wireless only. Cellular South’s customers talk almost twice as much per month as the industry average, and they text almost seven times as much.
The company has invested more than $500 million in network infrastructure since 1999 to improve call quality inside buildings and homes, and further increase capacity for data usage, a rapidly growing segment of Cellular South’s service in which customers increasingly use their wireless phones for text and picture messaging, accessing the Internet, sending and receiving email and downloading music.
