Cellular South Will Showcase 4th of July Independence Day Celebration In Meridian With New Technology

Wireless Carrier Will Capture Festivities In Online Photo Album Using Pic Sender

2008 Pops Concert at Bonita Lakes

Meridian Symphony Orchestra performs patriotic music during fireworks display

Meridian, MS - (July 3, 2008) – Cellular South, one of the nation's largest privately owned wireless carriers, will use its Pic Sender product to upload photos of a pops concert and community celebration featuring patriotic music by the Meridian Symphony Orchestra to an online album available for public viewing during Independence Day activities on Friday, July 4 at Bonita Lakes Park in Meridian, Miss.

Pic Sender, one of Cellular South's premier wireless applications, automatically saves photos taken on customers' wireless devices to their home computers, personal email, and/or favorite websites. The pops concert and fireworks display photos will be uplinked to an online Flickr album called "2008 Cellular South Pops in the Park" and can be accessed at http://www.flickr.com/photos/28065210@N08/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/27978864@N07/.

As part of its sponsorship of the pops concert and community celebration, the wireless carrier is also offering event visitors the chance to register to win a free HTC 6900 Touch smart phone and other prizes.

Entertainment begins at 7:30 p.m. with the Pops Concert featuring patriotic music from the Meridian Symphony Orchestra. A jet aircraft fly over from the U.S. Naval Air Station is scheduled at 8 p.m. and the fireworks display begins at 9 p.m. Admission is free.

"Cellular South is pleased to continue our relationship with the Meridian Symphony Orchestra and the city of Meridian and to support one of the premiere community events in the southeast region," said Jim Richmond, director of corporate communications for Cellular South.

Meridian Mayor John Robert Smith said the 3,300 acre Bonita Lakes recreation area is an ideal setting for a 4th of July celebration and the event would not be possible without the support and involvement of Cellular South. "We appreciate their commitment to this region and to the state of Mississippi by sponsoring events like this one for families and children," Smith said.

Meridian Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Aislinn Webb said the annual concert and fireworks display attracts 10,000 to 12,000 visitors to Meridian. "We're very fortunate to have such great partners in the city and Cellular South, who helps make this one of the best events of the year for east central Mississippi," she said.

Bonita Lakes is a city-owned 3,300 acre park off of Highway 19 in Meridian featuring three lakes, including Long Creek Reservoir.
