Cellular South's Pic Sender Moves Mobile Web Needle

Exclusive application drives heavy data adoption rate amongst users over 35.

Jackson, MS - (September 11, 2008) – – Cellular South's pic sender application continues to be an enormous success, this time in the form of increased mobile web adoption. According to a recent survey of pic sender users, 15 percent of them initially signed on to BREW in order to use the pic sender service. The survey revealed other interesting findings regarding various demographics' purchase of data plans to gain access to pic sender. For example, 25 percent of people over the age of 35 purchased an unlimited data plan specifically to use the application. Additionally, 21 percent of users that consider themselves as not tech-savvy, and 23 percent of users with phones that cost less than $50 also adopted BREW to use pic sender.

At the Spring CTIA conference this year, Ontela and Cellular South reported that sales of the pic sender service were at 217 percent of what was originally projected. In addition, CTIA recognized the technology behind pic sender as the best consumer application for mobile entertainment and social networking.
