Cellular South To Share Plans For Networking At Noon Program
Luncheon Speaker Series Raised $10,000 For Local Charities Last Year; $35,000 Since Inception
Tupelo, MS - (January 9, 2009) – Cellular South will distribute $10,000 to local charities and unveil plans for its 2009 Networking at Noon program during a news conference scheduled on Tuesday, Jan. 13 beginning at 2 p.m. in the Elm Room of the BancorpSouth Conference Center, 387 E. Main Street.
The special monthly luncheon series program, started in 2005 by the Mississippi-based wireless communications provider in partnership with the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association, features top-name guest speakers from the worlds of business, sports, education and politics.
Representatives from The Boys and Girls Club of North Mississippi and the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association (DTMSA) will be at the news conference to receive their portion of the proceeds from the 2008 luncheon speaker series program, said Cellular South spokeswoman Amy Nash.
DTMSA is a local economic development organization focused on downtown Tupelo promotion and revitalization. Boys & Girls Clubs of North Mississippi is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens through after-school and summer programs.
Since its inception, the Network at Noon program has raised over $35,000 for local charitable organizations and community services in Tupelo, according to Nash. "At Cellular South, we make community service a top priority and this program has helped us inform and educate local citizens through our guest speakers as well as support needy non-profit charitable community services," she added.
Each year, Cellular South selects a local non-profit organization to support in addition to its ongoing partnership with the DTMSA. In 2009, the company has selected the local chapter of The Salvation Army as the program recipient, Nash said.
The Salvation Army offers assistance to needy individuals in Lee, Union, Prentiss and northern Monroe counties in the areas of older adult ministries, corrections, day care, education, emergency assistance, food, housing, substance abuse and youth services.
Based on the success of the Networking at Noon program over the past four years, Nash said the series will continue in 2009 on the third Tuesday of every month (except December) at the Bancorp South Conference Center. This location allows for the continuous growth of the program, while maintaining the event's downtown presence.
Nash said the 2009 Celllular South Networking at Noon program series will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20. The public is invited. Tickets cost $12 per person and are on sale by calling 662-841-6598.
