Cellular South Expands Advanced 3G Mobile Broadband Network in Philadelphia and Neshoba County

Next Generation Wireless Gives Customers Faster Internet Connections, New High-Speed Data Services and Multimedia Applications

Ridgeland, Miss. (Nov. 20, 2009) – Cellular South, the nation's largest privately-held wireless provider, announced today the expansion of its third-generation (3G) high-speed wireless mobile broadband services to consumer and business customers in the city of Philadelphia in Neshoba County.

The Neshoba County expansion includes 6 new cell sites in and around the city of Philadelphia and is part of the activation of 166 new 3G cell sites in more than 39 counties and 43 cities and towns throughout Mississippi during the fourth quarter of 2009. Overall, Cellular South's 3G network expansion, which includes 324 new cell sites statewide this year, is a multi-million dollar investment that will make 3G high-speed data services accessible to 80 percent of Mississippians.

"Wireless devices are only as good as the network on which they work. Cellular South customers count on our network in every way and this plan continues our commitment to help them get the most out of their wireless devices," said Hu Meena, president and chief executive officer of Cellular South. "Our industry-leading 3G network will touch customers that otherwise wouldn't have access - giving them unmatched data and voice capability and reliability."

The introduction of Cellular South's 3G network in Neshoba County means the company will have one of the most robust and advanced 3G network available - solidifying its leadership position as the wireless company that provides the most 3G high-speed data coverage to its customers. As a result, Cellular South customers in Philadelphia will experience faster uploads and downloads when connecting to the Internet and gain access to new mobile high-speed data services, including mobile video telephony, high-quality music and other multimedia applications.

Local elected officials and business leaders praised Cellular South for bringing the new mobile broadband technology to Neshoba County. Philadelphia Mayor James Young said that many businesses considering relocation or expansion examine the telecommunications infrastructure of communities. "High-speed wireless data and the services and applications it supports are becoming increasingly important to both residential and business users," he said. "Cellular South's investment in its network and in our community will reap long-term benefits for our future growth and economic success."

David Vowell, president of the Community Development Partnership, said Cellular South's investment in Neshoba County's telecommunications infrastructure will help keep existing businesses and attract new growth to the region. "More businesses today are relying on high-speed wireless data for mission-critical and core business communications and applications," he said. "To have the latest high-speed wireless communications is a tremendous asset for our county as we compete with other areas to attract new business and industry."

Since 2006, Cellular South has made more than $350 million in capital investments in Mississippi as part of its broader $530 million overall network investment. The company's commitment to providing its customers with the most advanced and reliable 3G coverage available has included the activation of more than 500 new cell sites across its footprint and nearly 450 completely new sites with 3G capacity. This year Cellular South has continued with its promise and launched more than 158 new 3G sites - enhancing its network and improving its overall wireless coverage. By the end of 2009, Cellular South will have completed 324 new 3G cell sites in Mississippi alone.

"We've deployed 3G high-speed mobile broadband service faster and in more Mississippi markets than any other wireless carrier," said Tony Kent, Chief Technology Officer for Cellular South. "From instant e-mail access to downloading music and video, our 3G network is changing the way Mississippi businesses and residents stay connected."

The company intends to continue to invest in its wireless network across the footprint to increase coverage and capacity, Kent said, noting that in addition to its best-in-class nationwide voice and data offerings, Cellular South continues to find new and innovative ways to make customers' wireless experience the best it can be.
