Catherine Harrison Accepts Wildcard to Qualifying Round of 2010 Cellular South Cup
Joins Headliners Maria Sharapova (RUS) and Melanie Oudin (USA) in International Field of Singles Players Representing 13 Countries
2010 Cellular South Cup To Be Played February 14-20 At The Racquet Club of Memphis
Memphis, Tenn (Feb. 11, 2010) – The Cellular South Cup announced today that Catherine Harrison (USA) has accepted a wildcard to play in the 2010 Cellular South Cup qualifying round. One of the country's top junior players, Harrison is coming off a stellar performance at the 2009 Dunlop Orange Bowl, considered the top junior tournament after the four Grand Slams, knocking off the No. 1 ranked player USTA Girls 16s before falling in the semifinals. Just 15, the Germantown native will be looking to make a splash on her home court in her first WTA tournament appearance.
The Cellular South Cup will be played Feb. 14-20, 2010 at The Racquet Club of Memphis. Harrison joins an international field that includes players representing 13 countries: USA, Germany, Russia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Estonia, Romania, Czech Republic, France, Canada, Colombia, Slovakia, Croatia and Great Britain. The singles field is headlined by three-time Grand Slam winner Maria Sharapova (RUS) and 2009 U.S. Open Quarterfinalist Melanie Oudin (USA). Also of note, five players that played in the U.S.T.A Girls 18's National Clay Court Championships at The Racquet Club of Memphis are in the singles player field including Harrison, Oudin, Laura Granville (USA), Vania King (USA) and Lilia Osterloh (USA).
