In response to reports that the Department of Justice is reviewing anti-trust issues in the telecommunications industry, Cellular South issued the following statement: Cellular South was very interested in seeing today's reports of a Justice Department review into the telecommunications industry and the possibility that they would explore the device exclusivity issue. These anti-competitive, exclusive device agreements between wireless phone companies and handheld manufacturers increase consumer prices, decrease innovation and thwart competition. American consumers should be allowed to match the device they want with the wireless carrier they choose, just like so many consumers in other parts of the world.
